Montclair State University
How We Met & Our Proposal
Our journey began back in September 2012, on move-in day at Montclair State University. Reggie was the calm, collected Computer Science major, and Sejal was the high-energy Biology major just a few doors down the hall. We started as fellow college freshmen navigating our intense curriculums, sharing jokes in between study sessions, and late-night snack runs with our fellow fourth-floor roommates. It wasn’t until Valentine’s Day 2014—after a massive snowstorm—that we went on our first official date right after digging Reggie’s car out of a snowbank (Nothing says romance like shoveling snow together). But after that impromptu team-building exercise, we made it to the movies, and the rest is history. Years later, in true full-circle fashion, Reggie proposed on another stormy day—this time in the pouring rain at Deep Cut Gardens on December 11, 2022. Despite the weather, he planned every detail: Our guest room was filled with numerous dress choices and accessories for the day, and candles and white roses lined the path of the gardens leading to a gazebo filled with pictures from all eight years we had been together. Meanwhile, a violinist was playing our song, "Sweater Weather." Under twinkling lights that spelled out Marry Me, he asked—and of course, Sejal said yes!

What Life Looks Like Today
Over the years, our love has deepened in the most beautiful ways. We've traveled the world together, exploring new foods, cultures, and collecting memories across time zones. We’re also movie lovers at heart—Marvel, Harry Potter, and true crime shows have fueled countless cozy nights in and weekly Tuesday movie dates. In 2024, we picked up boxing as a fun bonding hobby (and no, we haven’t knocked each other out yet). Beyond the fun, we’ve supported each other through graduate school, both earning our Master’s degrees from Montclair, and championed each other’s careers every step of the way as we both rose to lead positions. Through life’s highs and lows, we’ve learned that love isn’t just about the big moments, it’s about showing up, growing together, and knowing you’ve got your favorite teammate in your corner, always!
